Hellenistic Sculpture and Architecture

The disappearance of the free city-state in the age of monarchy had a profound impact on Greek art. Sculptors dwelt more on the expression of human emotions and the display of raw physical beauty than heretofore. And architects were now commissioned by their royal majesties to produce monumental edifices to reflect the power and glory of the king and his kingdom.
